Just like amazing weather in the mid-west... our first two months blew by in the blink of an eye! I think it's safe to say... we came mostly prepared. With the tow rig weight issues out of the way, things have smoothed out. Just wish the highways were doing the same. As we're about done in Florida for the spring and start our journey north, figured we'd share a little recap of the past few months.
Stats:
1200+ miles, 5 states camped, 2 coasts, 1 National park
2 new gooseneck balls (finally got the rig level)
1 new smoker, 2 new camp chairs, and 1 new truck
And of course... LOTS of little organization and necessities from Amazon.
RV Parks
Less than 10 minutes from the beach, Surf City/Top Sail area is low key and right up our alley. Great amenities, nice dog park, and pool. The gravel sites got a little fun with heavy rain but otherwise the campground was delightful.
Just about as middle as nowhere South Carolina as we've been, a cute little farm tucked back in the woods. Waking up to rooster sounds felt like we never left our farm.
Just on the edge of Perry right off the freeway, this was a delightful park. We had a back in site right over the pond with a huge fountain. Once we dropped the back deck we had a great view! Decent dog park, had regular escapee goats who'd roam the grounds or get in the dog park. Our pups were used to the livestock and pretty much ignored them. Squirrels on the other hand, we didn't anticipate Huck being obsessed with them.
This resort is still under construction, but we can safely call this one a "Resort". All concrete sites with ample room for the truck. The rows of old trees they left are absolutely breath taking. Just a short bike ride to the Sun Resorts restaurant on Orange Lake, possibly one of the best Nashville Hot chicken sandwiches I've had outside Nashville. Driving distance to so many springs and rivers, we did multiple kayak trips and enjoyed all the wildlife Florida has to offer.
Loves:
Exploring new places every few weeks
All the new restaurants we get to try
Visiting family we've not seen in ages
Pace of life SUNRISE on the beach. LIVE MUSIC, so much live music everywhere we go!
"Mehs":
King size beds are very comfy but they make an RV bedroom... really tight.
Laundry facilities are hit and miss, but most have been good.
Fuel milage is less than hoped... like "WOOOO watch that gas gauge go down!"
Walking dogs in inclement weather, fortunately this has been minimal.
Leaving an area we're just getting acquainted with and really enjoying... countered by #1 love. And the biggest "MEH" of all... working a full time job while traveling, BUT... it keeps the fuel in the tank!
